Ancient Technologies From The 80's Explained By iPod-era Children

Because we have yet to realize the sci-fi dream of time machines, currently the best way to time travel and peer into the future is by looking at the past. In this case, a group of kids give us a preview of just how strange some of today's devices may appear to kids born just two decades from now.

A study group gathered a number of French-Canadian kids together and presented them with obsolete technology from the 80s and 90s and then asked them to guess the functions of the items. Included in the list of items were a record player and vinyl record, a Game Boy, an 8-track player, a rotary phone, a Coleco Vision cartridge, and a couple of floppy disks. The answers are not only funny, but quite revealing as to how our current tech may be all but indecipherable to future generations. Perhaps the funniest moment comes when the kids are presented with a floppy disk, which they guess is everything from a camera to a credit card. You can check out the video below.
