Facebook Rolling Out Brand New Photos Interface

Tonight, we’re seeing Facebook‘s all-new design for displaying photos rolling out to quite a few users. It features larger images, a lightbox-type UI and other features that put Facebook in even more competition with Flickr on the casual and social photography front.

We got wind of these new Facebook Photos features some months ago around the end of September. And while some users have had this feature for a while, we were beginning to wonder why Facebook was delaying a general roll-out.

However, Facebook did confirm yesterday that the new photo viewer was on its way to all users soon; and tonight, we’re seeing this new interface from several accounts.

One major benefit, from Facebook’s perspective, is that users will be able to browse through many photos in the lightbox layer without disrupting the underlying page and “losing their place.” Other features include hi-res photos, photo-download links and bulk tagging options.

In fact, as we noted last fall, many of these feature upgrades strongly mirror recent changes to Flickr’s own UI during the summer of 2010.

Along with Tag Suggestions, a.k.a. nascent facial recognition technology, Facebook’s photo offering, which has long been a distinguishing factor of the social network, is remaining strong and competitive.

Check your Facebook account to see if you have the new interface; if you don’t have it tonight, expect it to come over the next couple weeks.

Facebook: Cityville Bot Multifile v027

There is a reason why I stop posting about cityville plugin after v023. The big Z let us do a lot in cityville before because they want to attract more people into their new game (to achieve 100 million monthly players) Even Mark Zuckerberg, Kleiner Perkins partner and former Chief Creative Officer of Electronic Arts Bing Gordon maxed out at level 60 early on.

But now after they adds 20 new levels, they started to get serious. Many people that had a lot of energy and coins already been traced and their energy and coins have been reduce back to 0. Some of them who got unreleased items in their town got banned (thanks God I still have my unreleased items, coins and energy..hehe)

Hacker Heists Virtual Poker Winnings From Facebook Game

An English hacker has admitted he stole 400 billion virtual poker chips worth somewhere between $285,000 and $12 million in actual dollars from a popular online game, then sold some of them for cash on Facebook.

Ashley Mitchell gained administrator access to the Zynga site where he posed as administrator of the company's Texas Hold 'em poker game accessible through Facebook, according to published reports.

His greed in moving such massive amounts of chips between June and September 2009 led to detection by Zynga security, which called in law enforcement, reports say.

When he was caught he had already sold about $86,000 worth of the chips through hijacked Facebook accounts.

The judge in the case says Mitchell could face years in prison for the crime, especially since he'd already received a suspended sentence in 2008 for hacking into the Web site of the town offices of Tobray where he used to work and stealing $3,500.
