Automobile: Mercedes-Benz puts Interior Sculpture On Display

Detroit isn’t all about cars and concepts, but art work also finds its due space. Here we’re talking about Mercedes-Benz Aesthetics No. 2 sculpture by Mercedes designers that tries to capture the art and aesthetics of its interior designs and cabin ergonomics. The interior sculpture Aesthetics No. 2 has been developed while allowing the creative fantasy to go beyond the constraints. In this regard, Mercedes-Benz head of design, Professor Gorden Wagener was quoted as saying;

At Mercedes-Benz, automobile design is artistic creation...In the interior sculpture Aesthetics No. 2 we have allowed creative fantasy to develop freely without constraints. We have followed nature’s diversity & perfection;...However, we do not simply mimic Nature, but learn instead from the intricate, all-encompassing interplay of her elements - this, too, is a hallmark of art.

The sculpture measures 5.6 meters x 1.83m x 2.6m on a scale of 1.5 to 1 and has been given realistic looks with ‘Alubeam Liquid Metal’ color paint. The white seating space is made to look like ivory and evoke the feeling of a future Mercedes-Benz interior. The design work consciously defies the shackles of the limited context of ergonomics, technical feasibility, formal constraints and the exterior of the vehicle and pervades all the aspects of Mercedes’ design process. Future Mercedes-Benz interiors are expected to benefit from this awesome workflow.
